The home of good beer, Greek food and great hospitality

The Lichfield Vaults is a welcoming city centre pub tucked away in Church Street, Hereford, a minute's walk from both the Cathedral and High Town. Andy and Lesley, together with their friendly team, offer customers a traditional pub experience in a cosy and relaxing atmosphere while serving up some of the finest ales and pub food in Herefordshire - with a twist. Andy's Greek Cypriot roots are reflected in the menu with its emphasis on fresh, simple and tasty Greek cuisine.

Delicious food, made to share
Our speciality is mezes (small dishes) and platters to share. They are ideal for two - or for one person with a large appetite! (Ideal with a bowl of fried potatoes or pitta chips.) Our ever-popular Roast Sunday Lunch is served from 12.00 to 3.00 pm and costs just £11.95.

Award winning cask ales
But there is much more to the Lich than just its excellent food. It is also rightly famous for its array of real ales - from Deuchars IPA, Doom Bar, Golden XPA to Adnams Broadside. And as well as excellent beers you'll find a wide range of excellent wines by the glass or bottle, draught and bottled ciders and lagers, spirits and coffees. In 2015 The Lich was runner-up (from over 1,200 Star Pubs and Bars) in the 2015 Best Cask Ale category, an accolade which speaks volumes for the hard work Andy and his team put in every day to ensure that you are served the perfect pint.

Rockin’ and Rollin’ on a Sunday afternoon
The Lich also hosts regular live music events, mostly on a Sunday afternoon. Outside there is a large decked seating area. The whole pub is disabled friendly and background music is non-intrusive. Free Wi-Fi is available. We welcome dogs as long as they are kept on a lead. The Lich attracts an eclectic mix of customers, all of whom are made to feel part of the family, so why not come along and experience its unique atmosphere for yourself.

From The Good Pub Guide
"A pub since the 18th c (originally The Dog,) in picturesque pedestrianised area near cathedral; dark panelling, some stripped brick and exposed joists, impressive plasterwork in big-windowed front room, traditionally furnished with dark pews, padded pub chairs and a couple of heavily padded benches, hot coal stove, charming Greek landlord and friendly staff, well kept Adnams, London Pride, Caledonian and Sharps, enjoyable food from sandwiches up including selection of Greek dishes, good Sunday roasts, daily papers; faint background music - live blues/rock last Sunday of month, games machines; children welcome, no dogs, picnic-seats in pleasant back courtyard.."

Our teams - The Lich has recently enjoyed success in several competitions. At present we participate in a Quiz League (Sunday), Cribbage (Tuesday) and Ladies' Darts (Wednesday).

Are you looking for a job? From time to time The Lich recruits new staff. If you think you'd fit the bill why not email us your CV, or drop it in to the pub, and we'll be in touch.
